"The three days of March first, second, third were memorable days in the history of Yamato High School. These three days were the dates of the Far East BAsketball Tournament at Zama. The Warriors were pre-season favorites but after having lost to Johnson twice during the regular season, they were reduced to the underdogs of the tournament. After defeating Yokohama easily, the Warriors faced Kubasaki, the winners of last years tournament. It was a close game all the way with the Warriors coming out on top 54-52. Then we were ready for Johnson. There were close to 2,500 fans in the field house on the night of March third waiting intensly for the game to begin. From the outset, the game belonged entirely to Yamato. The game ended YAMATO 53--JOHNSON 41. The Warriors had returned as they had promised last year and captured the title "FAR EAST CHAMPS".
